Petitions are available to become a candidate for the board of education. Information packets may be obtained at the district clerk’s office, 177 Central Avenue. Three seats are up for election this year. Board members are elected at-large, meaning the three highest vote-getters will be elected to serve three-year terms from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020.
- Candidates wishing to run for the school board must obtain 99 signatures on the petition and file with the district clerk by 5pm on Monday, April 17.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old, a US citizen, and a legal resident of the Lancaster Central School District for one year prior to the election.
The annual budget meeting of the board of education is on Monday, May 8 beginning at 7pm. At 6pm, board of education candidates will participate in a candidates’ forum sponsored by the Lancaster High School student union. Additionally, candidates will be asked to participate in the Lancaster District PTO Council 'Meet the Candidates' night, scheduled for Wednesday, April 26 from 7-8:30pm at Lancaster High School.
