Lancaster Central School District
Summer School Offerings

The Lancaster Central School District prides itself on offering very unique and specific programs to meet the needs of our students in the district.  Below are brief descriptions of the types of programs that we offer.  More information will be available at the end of the school year.

Elementary

Lancaster Central School District’s Jump Start Summer School is an educational opportunity for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Our program includes hands-on activities and project-based learning. While our main focus continues to be reading and mathematics, we also incorporate social studies and science instruction.

Our elementary summer school is a quality, four-week program that runs during the month of July. Classes are on Mondays, Tuesdays,Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the morning. Placements are based on teacher referrals and parents will be notified in May if their child has been recommended.

We strongly urge parents to take advantage of this opportunity to enrich their child’s education. Class sizes for this program are small, so students work closely with their teacher and have their individual needs met. The extra instruction that students receive during the summer intervention program will help to fill their gaps in learning, reinforce important skills, and better prepare them for the next school year.

Middle School

The Middle School Summer School Program is both for remediation as well as enrichment.  The program uses a project-based approach with all of the subject areas planning the entire program together.  Highlights of the program include weekly field trips, guest speakers and an end of session celebration for all students to experience success.

High School

Regular Education Classes:
The Lancaster High School Summer School Program offers a variety of opportunities for students to regain class credits.  The program is designed to meet the needs of students who have a variety of learning styles. Small class sizes provide the personal attention necessary to help make students successful.  Our unique hybrid English/Social Studies course implements activity-focused lessons in across-curricular setting to encourage enthusiasm for learning.  Over the years the program has helped keep students on track and in school.
