At its annual budget vote and board election Tuesday, May 16, voters took action to approve the school district's $103.8 million spending plan, which includes a 2.31 percent budget increase, below the state-allowed tax cap. The estimated impact on a $100,000 home would be $19.
Voters also approved a bus proposition, that will be paid for out of the district's transportation reserve fund, thereby costing taxpayers no additional dollars. The proposition authorizes the board of education to expend $964,236 to purchase seven 65-passenger school buses at an estimated maximum cost per bus of $117,433 and one 42-passenger school bus at an estimated maximum cost of $142,205.
Finally, voters decided among six candidates for three vacant board of education seats and the following tally was recorded.
Nargis Hossain - 996
Patrick Uhteg - 2165
Melissa Studley - 1088
Bonita Brown - 783
Glenn Jackson - 2158
Michael Sage - 2079
Congratulations to our board members, and thank you to everyone who came out to take time to support our students!
